In a new interview, Drake AKA our very own Aubrey Graham discussed how he got his role on Degrassi. It was not the most conventional method! lol. Drake talks about his upbringing and life as both Jewish and black. In grade 9, he met with an agent who set him up for a Degrassi audition. He says:
I’ve never told this story before but I had actually smoked Marijuana for the first time before I went to the audition, [laughs] so, it was going to be fun. I was in the bathroom splashing water on my face and all this stuff. But that actually led to me actually leading a very clean cut life!
LOL! I guess he must be a really good actor. Click here to read the full interview.
Stacey’s new show 18 To Life is set to premiere next year, but the press has already begun! Speaking to CBC (the show’s network), Stacey describes her character as young, smart, and tough. In the series, Stacey plays 18 year old Jessie, who agrees to marry Tom, played by Michael Seater. The show is described as a character comedy with a lot of heart. No specific airdate has been set yet. Click here to read the full article.
It appears that the next new episode of Degrassi will not air until the new year.
Degrassi is not on CTV or Much Music’s schedules in the upcoming weeks. Instead, CTV will air reruns of Corner Gas in Degrassi’s timeslot and Much Music will air The Secret Life of the American Teenager AKA Degrassi Ver. 2.0. We can only assume that this means CTV is taking a break from Degrassi and will resume new episodes next year.
TeenNick will also begin airing the next half of season 9 in 2010. Check out this promo for the future episodes!
With the holiday season fast approaching, Degrassi is celebrating! This Friday TeenNick will air the “Ghost of Degrassi Past.” We can assume that this is a mini episode. It is based on the classic Christmas tale the “Ghost of Christmas Past.” The excitement is centered around the return of our beloved JT Yorke. Can’t wait!
I’m so sorry that this site hasn’t been updated in so long. I realise that there is lots of new Degrassi news, so over the next hour I’m going to try and post as much of it as possible. Thank you for being patient. This past weekend I was away for my love in life (figure skating). I was without internet thanks to my own stupidity. I forgot to bring the charger for my laptop so it ran out of batteries and there wasn’t much I could do about that. I hope everyone enjoyed the new episodes on CTV last Sunday and Beat It Part 2 on TeenNick!
Also, Degrassi-Fans.com is now over 100, 000 hits! WOW. Thank you guys so much! When I started this site I just did it for fun, because I wanted to support Degrassi. I never imagined the site would continue this long with so many faithful visitors. Degrassi fans are definitely the best fans in the world!
BroadwayWorld.com recently conducted a very lengthy interview with Degrassi actor Jake Epstein. Jake is currently on tour with Spring Awakening playing the part of Melchior. In the interview, Jake talks about the difference between TV and theatre, his time on Degrassi, future projects he has in mind, plus much more. Here’s an excerpt:
“Did you get to perform your own songs on Degrassi? Yeah, they let me write a bunch of [my characters'] songs… I had a “band” on Degrassi. They would come to me and say, like, “Okay, we want kind of like a generic, garage-rock-sounding song!” So, I would come back with “Okay, like this?” and they’ll go, “yeah, that’s it! Let’s do that!”
Dalmar Abuzied and Charlotte Arnold lended their support to ACTRA’s fight to keep Canadian programming on the air yesterday. The two Degrassi stars attended a rally at Parliament Hill in Ottawa alongside other well known Canadian actors from shows such as The Border and Little Mosque on the Prairie. The CRTC (regulator of Canadian content) has just launched hearings on the future of broadcasting in Canada. Performers from across Canada are calling on the CRTC to put Canadian programming first. According to the press release from ACTRA, last year Canadian networks “spent $740 million on U.S. and foreign programming and just $54 million on Canadian English-language drama.” Click here to read the entire press release and find out more.
If you’re wondering what song was playing at the end of 912 “Heart Like Mine Part 2,” here it is! It’s called “Model Homes” by In-Flight Safety. Check out the music video.
Personally, I thought this was one of the best song choices ever on Degrassi. It fit the scene perfectly. What do you think?
