After months/years of waiting, Drake’s debut album Thank Me Later will be released tomorrow! It’s hard to imagine that not long ago he was still our Jimmy Brooks. Now he’s about to have the #1 album on the Billboard charts! Don’t forget to pick up your copy tomorrow or download it on iTunes. We feel a little like proud parents right now I think.
Paula Brancati & Lauren Collins have both been cast in the Canadian premiere of the award winning Love, Loss, and What I Wore. The play, based on a book, is a collection of vignettes and monologues that uses clothing and accessories and the memories they trigger to tell stories that women can relate to. Love, Loss, and What I Wore will play at the Panasonic Theatre in Toronto starting July 16th and running until Sept. 4th!

No surprise here. Drake is continuing to take the music world by storm. The former Degrassi star has received 4 Juno nominations, trailing only Michael Buble for the top spot. His song “Best I Ever Had” has been nominated for “Single of the Year.” He is also nominated for “New Artist of the Year,” and a double nomination in the category of “Rap Recording of the Year” for his debut EP So Far Gone and the collaborative track “Still Fly.” We’re confident that Drake might be taking home a few trophies. The Juno Awards take place on Sunday, April 18th in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Check out the official website for a complete list of nominees.
Evan Williams, better known as Kelly on Degrassi TNG, has been cast as the lead in a new Canadian youth comedy series entitled Baxter. The series is being produced for Canada’s Family Channel by the creators of Life with Derek. It is expected to premiere in Canada later this year. The series follows Baxter McNab (Evan Williams) and his friends through the unique environment of the Northern Star School of the Arts. The series will include elements of comedy, music, and dance. If you’ve been watching Lost lately you may have noticed a familiar face! Dayo Ade, better known as BLT on Degrassi Junior High & Degrassi High, played one of the Others sent out with Kate and Jin. He recently did an interview with The Toronto Star discussing life in LA which he describes as “a dream come true.”
Dayo also discussed his Degrassi past, saying: “The show is kind of in my past, but it’s not because I’m still very good friends with Amanda Stepto, who used to play Spike, Cathy (Keenan) who used to play Liz. I mainly stay in touch with those ladies. Also Stefan Brogan (Snake), every now and then we still talk.”
