Degrassi Announcement Delayed

Unfortunately the big announcement we’ve been expecting to hear from TeenNick & CTV this Thursday has been delayed according to Stephen Stohn on Twitter. It will now take place on March. 27th instead. The announcement was expected to include important details about season 10, including as the fact that 48 brand new episodes will be produced.

Stay tuned to Degrassi-Fans.com on March 27th for all the information as it is made available!

Drake Receives 4 Juno Nominations

No surprise here. Drake is continuing to take the music world by storm. The former Degrassi star has received 4 Juno nominations, trailing only Michael Buble for the top spot. His song “Best I Ever Had” has been nominated for “Single of the Year.” He is also nominated for “New Artist of the Year,” and a double nomination in the category of “Rap Recording of the Year” for his debut EP So Far Gone and the collaborative track “Still Fly.” We’re confident that Drake might be taking home a few trophies. The Juno Awards take place on Sunday, April 18th in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Check out the official website for a complete list of nominees.


Evan Williams Stars in a New Comedy Series

Evan Williams, better known as Kelly on Degrassi TNG, has been cast as the lead in a new Canadian youth comedy series entitled Baxter. The series is being produced for Canada’s Family Channel by the creators of Life with Derek. It is expected to premiere in Canada later this year. The series follows Baxter McNab (Evan Williams) and his friends through the unique environment of the Northern Star School of the Arts. The series will include elements of comedy, music, and dance. Degrassi Junior High’s BLT On Lost!!

If you’ve been watching Lost lately you may have noticed a familiar face! Dayo Ade, better known as BLT on Degrassi Junior High & Degrassi High, played one of the Others sent out with Kate and Jin. He recently did an interview with The Toronto Star discussing life in LA which he describes as “a dream come true.”

Dayo also discussed his Degrassi past, saying: “The show is kind of in my past, but it’s not because I’m still very good friends with Amanda Stepto, who used to play Spike, Cathy (Keenan) who used to play Liz. I mainly stay in touch with those ladies. Also Stefan Brogan (Snake), every now and then we still talk.”

Travel the World With the Degrassi Cast!

Looking for something to do this summer? Want to make a difference in the world? This is your chance!

The cast of Degrassi will be participating in volunteer trips with Me to We, and they want you to join them! Dalmar & Scott will be going to Ecuador on Aug. 10-28th, while Sarah & Evan will be going to India July 21-Aug. 9. You’ll get the chance to learn about the destination’s culture while volunteering for the community and making a difference. AND you’ll get to hang out with some of our favourite cast members!

All flights for trips with the Degrassi cast will be departing from Toronto. It is a hefty price tag, so you’ll have to do some fundraising to get there. For all the information on this trip as well as others, check out the Me To We website!


‘Harriet the Spy’ World Premiere

“Harriet the Spy: Blog Wars” featuring Melinda Shankar and Aislinn Paul will be premiering on the Disney Channel March 26th at 8pm ET. The film is a contemporary twist on the iconic character and stars Jennifer Stone as Harriet.

Willing to do whatever it takes to earn the coveted position, Harriet competes against her arch nemesis, popular student Marion Hawthorne, in a month-long blog war to win her classmates support. When Harriet’s father, movie producer Roger Welsch, signs on to produce the sequel to the hottest teen-musical, “Spy High,” she knows her inside scoop will be a perfect opportunity to win over her classmates.

Melinda plays a character named Janie, and Aislinn plays Beth Ellen.
